Happy New Year everybody! We have received a new update in Google Webmaster Tools. I’m very happy because I had some problems with the Webmaster Tools reports: Maximum Of 5 Clicks Under Search Queries In Google Webmaster Tools.
Now a new era has arrived. You need to enter Search Traffic -> Search Queries then you see a message on 12/31/13:
“An improvement to our search queries data was applied retroactively on 12/31/13”
The data is now accurate and not rounded number. It’s a big development because Google Webmaster Tool was weak in reporting because of the rounded numbers.
You can check the Top Pages info and you will find new and improved data there about your urls.
Will be there more updates in Google Webmaster Tools?
The accurate numbers do not mean you can disable your Google Analytics account to use only your Google Webmaster Tools for reporting purposes. I think this update is just the beginning of something big in 2014.
Matt Cutts told on October 6 that there shouldn’t have been any PageRank update but there was. There was a PR update because of some fixes.
Here is the tweet from Matt Cutts:
“A rare PageRank update: http://t.co/qMKGOd1UlP Team was fixing a different backend service and did a PR update along the way.” — Matt Cutts (@mattcutts) December 6, 2013
The beginning of 2014 is really exciting and probably not only the Webmaster Tools is updated.
People say that backlinks are less important than they were in the past. This change has already started in last year.
Quality is much more important than quantity. Thousands of backlinks can be considered as spam links.
The whole SEO thing is changing and the master – behind the scenes – is Google. I hope if the year 2014 brings us great algorithm and tool updates.
And please don’t forget to verify your websites with Google Webmaster Tools because it’s very important for seo.
